Derek Clark
Derek has been helping people solve problems and achieve outstanding success for over 20 years. He is a highly experienced coach, Certified Trainer and Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and registered as a Hypnotherapist with the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council. Equally effective when working with individuals or teams, Derek particularly enjoys helping people resolve problems where other attempts have failed.
After pursuing his own successful rowing career, which included wins in the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race and at Henley Royal Regatta, Derek established himself as one of the UK’s top professional sports coaches and helped many of the country's rowers to success at national, world-championship and Olympic level. During the 1990s he lived and worked in Switzerland, helping the Swiss national team to an unprecedented period of success which included two gold medals at the 1996 summer games in Atlanta - their first Olympic titles since 1928.
In 1999, Derek returned to the UK to help his wife establish her fledgling software business. After personally raising over £1 million in venture capital to set up sales, marketing and product development, he subsequently led the business as CEO until securing its first sales in 2004.
Since 1999, Derek has also "kept his oar in" by helping Oxford University’s Boat Race crew turn around a 7-year losing streak. Since notching up their first Boat Race win after just 6 months working with Derek, Oxford have invited him back each year with the score now standing at 5 wins in the last 7 races. Derek's personal favourite was the victory in 2003 when Oxford's "young lions" beat a heavily fancied Cambridge crew by just 1 foot, despite giving away over a stone per man in weight!
Derek lives on a small farm in the Cotswolds, together with his wife, their small but ever expanding herd of horses and two cats. Having worked with many of the world's best known coaches and developed a broad range of different techniques, Derek has now turned his focus to helping a wider range of people release their mental handbrakes and get what they want out of life. When not working with clients he can be found helping rehabilitate horses with physical or behavioural problems and studying classical riding according to the philosophy of the old French masters.
Mike Neumann
Mike began his business life with the Civil Service, investigating organised crime. After a period running computer systems and managing budgets, he decided to escape and set up his first training company, originally teaching criminal investigation. Seven years on, he is at the forefront of investigations training and is an acknowledged public speaker.
Having first been introduced to the subject as part of a ‘train the trainer’ course 10 years ago, Mike is now a certified Trainer of NLP and runs courses with his own training company, Foresight. He also runs a practice group in London and is one of the founding members of IBNLP. He co-presents the Mind Body Mastery NLP Practitioner courses.
Mike says "NLP showed me how to move from ‘effect’ to ‘cause’. As a result I own a number of companies, drive the car and ride the motorbike I choose. I travel the world and spend most of my life smiling and enjoying what I do. How did NLP do this? By making me realise that I choose my behaviour"
In his spare time Mike is very much into music, having both played in a rock band and trained as an opera singer in the past. His hobbies include Egyptology, mountaineering, cooking, Italian wines and holidays. Mike lives in London with his partner Jill and Toffee, their Tonkinese cat. He has recently taken up fencing and, for the first time in many years, is able to admit to being a Chelsea fan.
